Group purposeReflective Prayer: seeks to provide a space to encounter God in the midst of daily demands and to help make connections between prayer and everyday life. We offer a 45minute guided meditation using stillness, poetry, scripture, silence, music, etc. We also aim to be a link to others working in Christian prayer and spirituality that may resource our lives.
Group ethosIt is a simple, quiet and unhurried space. We hope there is a growing sense of community both within the silence and over coffee afterwards with folk from across the city, some of whom also belong to traditional Home Groups. We would be encouraging of the idea of life as a journey and that God is to be found in the ordinary, and sometimes very raw, material of our lives.

Time8 pm (usually last Friday of each month)

Group purposeSimilar to the other Theology Reading Group, this is a reading group where we aim to study and discuss books dealing with Christian theology. Through discussion of the readings and our response to them, we aim to develop reflective awareness of the basis of Christian doctrine, its historical development, and, in some cases, the reasons that certain issues have become controversial or divisive. By consideration of the implications for our own lives of what we are reading, we aim to foster personal spiritual growth and, by so doing, enhancing the contribution we make more widely – both within and outwith our church community.
Group ethosWe are a mixed group of people spanning the age and gender range of adults in the church. The group is open to all: whether or not you have undertaken any formal theological study. While not dispensing with the need for academic rigour and intellectual discipline in our discussions, we aim to create an atmosphere that is welcoming and conducive for those who are at an 'entry-level' in their journey into reading theological works. Our meetings are usually begun and/or ended with biscuits, coffee/tea or even fine wine!
