Youth

In the youth programme we specifically want to focus on young people in S1 – S6, helping them with discipleship (learning to be like Jesus) and reaching out to their friends through relational evangelism. We have loads of fantastic programmes and activities but at the heart of it all is the community within the groups.

OXYGEN: For S1 – S3’s, meets on Sunday morning during the 11am service. A vibrant and dynamic group with plenty of laughter, games, bible study, discussion, prayer and of course yummy tray bakes! The group also has weekends away throughout the year and social events such as the Frenzy music festival.

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP: For S4 – S6’s, meets on Sunday evenings at 5pm, a fantastic time to hook up with friends, catch up with some hot drinks and snacks, discuss, pray together and get into the bible. The YF also have weekends away throughout the year and social monthly meals on a Friday night.

OUTREACH: There have been various outreach projects over the years to help young people share their faith with their friends. Recent events have included The Light which runs twice a month on a Saturday night for S1 – S3’s, The Java House which is a café night for the S4 – S6 age group and youth alpha groups.

ENE: Stands for ENCOUNTER and ENGAGE. This is a youth worship event for the whole youth programme. It usually runs twice a term, once in the main service and once just for the young people themselves. A team of young people with the Youth Director plan, organise and run the event. This is very much about a worship event relevant for young people but also giving them the opportunity to explore their gifts such as hosting, worship, organising, multimedia, sound etc.

KENYA and CHERYLS CHILDRENS HOME: For the last 5 years the youth programme at P’s & G’s has been linked with Cheryls Childrens Home in Nairobi Kenya. Groups from the Youth Fellowship have gone out on short term mission trips during the summer to work at the home and run a kids holiday club. The young people also continue to raise funds and develop the relationship with Cheryls throughout the year.

SERVING: There are many opportunities for young people to serve within the wider church body. Many of our young people volunteer in the children's programme, on the multimedia teams and sound.
